MS-Word Commands- File Menu, Edit Menu and View Menu

File Menu:

There are several MS-Word command. Some of them we have as File Menu, Edit Menu and View menu and rest of them we discussed later soon.

 

1. File new [Ctrl+N]

This command is used to get a new blank document file.
-Click on file menu.
-Click on new.
-Click on ok.

2. File save [Ctrl+S]:

This command saves the text on the active files in a unique name given by the user known as file name
-Prepare the document
-Click on file menu.
-Select the save.
-Type the file menu for the file select name.

3. File Close [Alt+F4]:

This command is used to close the active fle
-Save the active document if necessary.
-Click on file menu.
-Click on exit/close.

4. File Open [Ctrl+O]:

This command is used to open the file i.e. saved already.
-Click on file menu.
-Click on ope.
-Select the file or type the file name that is to be opened.
-Select open.

5. Save as: 

This command is used to save the current file in another name/location,i.e. known as password.
-Prepare or open the document.
-Click on file menu.
-Click on save as.
-Specify the location. Such as tools/Options.
-Click at general options/security options.[Then display save as dialog box ]
-Type the file name in password box.
-Click on ok.
-Click on save.

6. Page Setup:

Thsi command is used to applied to set the paper size,margin and layout for the current document file.
-Prepare your document.
-Click on file menu.
-Select page setup command and click on it.[Then dialog page setup dialog box]
-Click on paper option tab and specify required paper size[A4. 210X297 cm]
-Click on margin option tab and specify required paper margins[Top,Button,Left,Right=1.5cm].
-Click on layout option tab and specify border of page.
-Click on ok.

7. Print Preview [Ctrl+F2]:

By using this command to display the preview of the prepared document before print out.

8. Print [Ctrl+P]:

This command is used to print the text on active file. We must have the printer properly connected as well as installed before applying this command.
-Open/Prepare the file i.e. to be printed.
-Power to the printer and insert the paper.
-Select the file menu.
-Select print and click on it.[Then appear print dialog box]
-Click required printer name [Canon BIC-1000] from printer name box.
-Select required one option [All current pages] from the page range.
-Set the numbers of copies to be printer.
-Click on ok.

9. File Exit [Alt+F4]:

This command is used to get out from the current program.
-Save al the open files if necessary.
-Select the file menu.
-Select exit and click on it.

Edit Menu : 

 

1. Undo [Ctrl+z]:

This command cancels the recently applied command.
-Highlight the required text.
-Click at edit menu.
-Select undo and click on it.

2. Redo [Ctrl+Y]:

Reappears the recently applied command.
-Click on edit menu.
-Select redo and click on it.

3. Cut and Paste [Ctrl+X and Ctrl+V]:

These commands copy the selected text and paste at the desired place of documents.
-Select the required text.
-Click onedit menu.
-Select copy/cut.
-Place the cursor at the required side of document where the text is to place.
-Click on edit menu again.
-Click on paste until end of confirm.

4. Select All [Ctrl+A]:

Blocks all required text/document onthe active file.
-Click on edit menu.
-Click on select all.

5. Clear/Delete:

Delete the all selected text.
-Select the desired text.
-Click on edit menu.
-Select clear and click on it.

6. Find [Ctrl+F]:

Find the particular [given] word from the selected text.
-Click on edit menu.
-Select the find and click on it.[Then appear find next dialog box]
-Place the cursor in find what box.
-And type the searching word/character.
-Click on find next.
-Follow the coming process.

7. Replace [Ctrl+H]:

Replace the searching word/character by a new word/character.
Process-->
-Select the desired text.
-Click on edit menu.
-Select replace and click on it.[Then appear replace and find dialog box]
-Place the cursor in find what box and type required searching word/character.
-Click on replace/replace all.
-Follow the appearing process.

8. Go to [Ctrl+G]:

To move at the desired line/section/paragraph/place etc.
-Click on edit menu.
-Select Go to and click on it.[Then appears Go to dialog box]
-Select required options.
-Click on go to at end of confirm. 

View Menu:

 

1. Print Layout:

To use for standard display MS-Word program working area.
-Click on view menu.
-Select Print Layout.

2. Toolbars:

Toolbars are the bars containing the group of icons that carryout particular action. We can show/hide the desired toolbar.
-Click on view menu.
-Select toolbars.[Then appears list of toolbars]
-Select required one and click on it.

[Note : same above process can be used to show/hide,ruller]

3. Header and Footer:

We can place a particular ready-made text,quotation,date and time,page number saying or proverb either at the top or at the bottom of each pages of the current file. The text that is placed at the top is known as Header and text at the bottom is said as Footer.
-Prepare a file.
-Click on view menu.
-Select header and footer and click on it.[The appear Header and Footer tool box]
-Place the cursor where  you want to type text.[Header and Footer]
-For the footer press down arrow key.
-Type the text in print preview.
-Click on close.

4. Full Screen:

Shows the text/document on the current page in full screeen.
-Select view menu.
-Select full screen.
-To exit from full screen mode,select close full screen.

5. Zoom:

Zoom is the process by which the percentage of the working area is fixed.
-Click on view menu.
-Select zoom and click on it.[Then appear zoom dialog box]
-Select required options.
-Click on ok.
